Adopting a Pet
Our animals at the rescue have had a rough start in life to say the least. They were abandoned, abused/neglected,surrendered by owners and pulled from kill shelters. In spite of this they are full of love and deserve a second chance. With your adoption you provide them a second chance for the love and life they deserve.
Making a Donation
We are always in need of donations. Bleach ,laundry detergent, paper towels, large disposable gloves and cleaning products are always needed for daily use.
Pedigree dry dog food,Pedigree/Alpo canned dog food, Friskies canned cat food, Cat Chow or 9 Lives Complete Dry Catfood are the brands that we tend to utilize the most for our day to day feedings. We do supplement the diets of our senior animals with some specialty foods and can utilize gift cards to purchase chicken or liver.
We often have to replace garden hoses, shovels rakes etc and can utilize those items or Gift cards.
During colder weather we need blankets and dog sweaters.
We also need sponsors to help with vetting, spay/neuters, medications

What we do
Our Services

Rescuing Pets
Recycled Rovers and Friends is a Non Profit 501c No Kill Animal Rescue. Located in Donna Texas. It has been in existence since approximately 2005. It is run SOLELY on donations and by volunteers. We have a mixture of dogs and cats. The animals in our care have been abused, abandoned and neglected. Our goal is to nurture and rehabilitate them for adoption or transport. Those that have behavioral issues will remain in our care without fear of euthanasia.

Micro-Chipping
Why is microchipping your pet important? In the unfortunate circumstance where your pet may go missing a microchip can make the difference in your chances of being reunited. All animals that are picked up by animal control or dropped off by members of the community are scanned for microchips. When anyone finds a lost pet they can take it to any Veterinary Clinic or animal shelter to be scanned for a chip free of charge. It is important to remember you must register your microchip online and keep your contact information up to date.

Finding Pets a Home
We have adoption events to try to place our animals. Adoption contracts and home visit required. We also use rescue partners and transport our animals to other states.

Spay & Nuter
Here in the RGV there Is as a huge problem with pet overpopulation. Animals are euthanized at an alarming rate. Spaying and neutering your pet can make such a big difference. Not only will it reduce the number of homeless animals it has many health benefits. All of our animals are spayed &neutered and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.

Pet Adoption Notes
Adopting VS BUying
Reasons to adopt a pet: You’ll save money because adoption costs less than buying an animal from a pet shop or breeder. Perfectly “perfect” animals of all breeds, shapes, ages and sizes are available at shelters and rescue groups. Just because an animal ends up there doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with them
How to Find the Perfect Pet
Browsing through photos of adoptable dogs can certainly tug at the heartstrings. It’s easy to make a rash decision based on a friendly furry face, cute puppy dog eyes, or pressure from a pet-loving child or spouse. However, the decision to adopt a dog or other pet is one that will have a great impact on your life. So it should not be made lightly.
A dog will be part of your family ─ and your daily routine ─ for years to come. So just like with any big long-term decision, you should make sure you have thought through what you want and know what to expect.
